Alcohol Awareness Week

Building Healthy Communities in Dumfries & Lower Nithsdale provided an information session to support Alcohol Awareness Week where members of the community were given the opportunity of taking part in a “true or false” quiz to test their awareness of the effects of alcohol.

Addiction Dance Company

“Boogie on Down…” – A dance fitness class was identified as a need for local people of all ages and abilities.  This took place within the Summerhill Community Centre with dance instructors from the Addiction Dance Company – a good time was had by all who attended.

Crafting Craze

Check out the Thursday morning and Crafternoon Groups who had a fab time showing off their “stuff” – needless to say those who came along were well impressed and looking to take up the “crafting craze”.

Congratulations!!!!

Woop Woop Guys!!! – Huge congrats go to Anne Mellstrom, Tam Muirhead, Anne Musgrave and Maggie McAllister who all completed a 8 week First Degree Reiki and was supported by Eileen Jardine, Reiki Master.   We’re thinking that there will be a long list of “guinea pigs” wanting to be practised on…well done folks.

Scrimp and Sew

Check out the lassies from the Scrimp & Sew who are fair coming on with their sewing – to begin with they had a go at making some cushion covers and peg bags and have now moved on to adjusting curtains, mending clothes, recycling shirts and making their own dresses…. Keep up the good work girls as Dot the sewing tutor is fair proud…

Tai Chi

The photos say it all….what a beautiful environment to practice Tai Chi.  The photographs were taken at the recent launch of the Dock Park in Dumfries.  The Tai Chi session was led by Denise Carrick, Flutterby Tai Chi and supported by BHC Volunteers Mary Halliday,  Bill Howat and Christine Kerr.  Well done everyone….
