The Dumfries and Galloway Wellness and Recovery College (Course Guide)
The Dumfries and Galloway Wellness and Recovery College, is a local initiative that delivers a range of wellness and recovery focussed learning and development opportunities. Courses will provide students with a range of learning opportunities, these may include:
- Learning skills and strategies to cope with challenging times, for example in relation to change and loss
- Strengthening personal coping skills
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships
- Helping to understand personal responses to situations
Courses vary in content and length. You may be interested in signing up for just one course or more.

The latest newsletter from C4urself full of helpful and informative items. It features the National Sexual Health Campaign. 'Sex It's Healthy to Talk about it, information on sexting, pornography, local information on STI's, new leaflets and much more. This edition also contains an education pack on grooming which has been produced by Barnardo’s called Sex, Secrets and Lies.This is a very useful resource which contains information on :

Alcohol Awareness Week
Building Healthy Communities in Dumfries & Lower
Nithsdale provided an information session to support Alcohol Awareness Week
where members of the community were given the opportunity of taking part in a
“true or false” quiz to test their awareness of the effects of alcohol.
Addiction Dance Company
“Boogie on Down…” – A dance fitness class was identified as
a need for local people of all ages and abilities. This took place within the Summerhill Community
Centre with dance instructors from the Addiction Dance Company – a good time
was had by all who attended.
Crafting Craze
Check out the Thursday morning and Crafternoon Groups who
had a fab time showing off their “stuff” – needless to say those who came along
were well impressed and looking to take up the “crafting craze”.

Woop Woop Guys!!! – Huge congrats go to Anne Mellstrom, Tam
Muirhead, Anne Musgrave and Maggie McAllister who all completed a 8 week First
Degree Reiki and was supported by Eileen Jardine, Reiki Master. We’re thinking that there will be a long
list of “guinea pigs” wanting to be practised on…well done folks.
